1&1 Internet has removed traffic caps on all new and current web hosting accounts. At the same time, customers have had online storage space increased by up to five times their previous limits. The move brings all 1&1 Shared Hosting accounts in line with the benefits previously only offered to Direct Hosting customers.
Unlimited traffic allows Home, Hobby and Business sites to add Flash video, higher quality images and other high-bandwidth content to their sites without incurring extra charges for busting through their monthly bandwidth thresholds.
This means site owners can add more content and larger files to their domains without worrying about the cost as bandwidth not only includes web visitors accessing the site but FTP transfers as well.
Another benefit is more visitors can download more content from a site as well.
1and1 Internet is credited as the world’s largest web hosting company by number of servers operated. The company has 65,000 web and email servers at data centres in the US, UK and Europe.
“At 1&1, we make every effort to offer our customers the most advanced technology and services available in the industry. For this reason, we have decided to include unlimited traffic with all of our webhosting packages and online shops,” said a 1&1 spokesman.

Please be aware – I have had several email exchanges with 1and1 as their services are ot all they may seem e.g. this is the latest email, saying I don’t have unlimited bandwidth – because I’m not a new customer!
Dear Andy Raybould, (Customer ID: )
Thank you for contacting us.
The link is applicable to your account. Furthermore, your account does not have unlimited bandwidth. The latter is for newly purchased accounts only. You have to upgrade the package to avail the additional features.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
