So far Heart Internet has been one of my top UK web host and I’ve been using them for a few months now. Their eXtend control panel is very easy to use and allows you to perform a great number of management tasks.
In this post I will show you the very basic task of creating a MySQL database on your Heart Internet account. I will be able later to link to this post from upcoming tutorials that requires a MySQL database.
Start by logging in your Heart Internet hosting account by using the Customer Login button at the top right corner of their homepage :

Once logged in, click on the Manage Web Hosting icon. From the next page, select the account (domain name) for which you want to create a database and click the Access eXtend button. This will bring you to your website’s control panel. Find and click the icon named MySQL databases.
Now let’s enter a username and password for the new database to be created :

Hit the Create button to create the new MySQL database. Once created, you should see it at the bottom of the page :

Note that the control panel has created a prefix for your database name and username as well. In this example, the name is “web248-johndoe” and not only “johndoe” as I entered it.
Well this is it, you’ve created your first MySQL database on your Heart Internet account.
Stay tuned for more advanced tutorials soon!
