Protect your Server from Brute Force Attacks with cpHulk

A Brute Force Attack is a technique used to break an authentication or an encryption system. This involves trying all possibilities which can be a combination of multiple keys (like a username and password) or a just single one.

When it comes to protecting a dedicated server with cPanel / WHM, cpHulk is great tool which detects Brute Force attempts and blocks the attacker’s IP address.

How to Enable cpHulk Protection

From your WHM control panel, click on cpHulk Brute Force Detection under Security Center from the main menu and click the Enable button at the top.

cpHulk Configuration

The configuration parameters are pretty self-explanatory so I won’t go over them. But one thing that is important is to whitelist your own IP address to prevent yourself from being locked out. This can be done by clicking on Trusted IPs List and adding your IP.
