The Domain name you choose for your website can have a great impact on the success of your site. It’s good to have a name that’s easy to remember and pertains to what your business does.

When the internet was just beginning, you would choose your name carefully and creatively so people could remember your URL.  Today this is not quite as big an issue in today’s internet world.  The search engines that we have available today make it so we can get to where we want to go without all the information.

The domain name is pretty important in marketing on the internet. You should always make sure that your domain name will give a name and at the same time explain exactly what you do. Sites that are configured to use number URLs instead of words, when a new page is posted tend to be viewed less frequently, and will also have difficulty in gaining recognition from the Google spider.

You’ll be able to get your domain name at any of many Web Hosting companies like Go DADDY, Network.com and a plethora of others.  They may charge nothing or a small fee per year or month for the service.  You will be able to choose your URL at the hosting company’s sites. Chances are that the first name that you come up with will not be issued for the reason that it is registered to someone else. The number of Websites on the internet today is overwhelming. You may have to choose several names before you find one that has not been used.

Although you cannot get a certain name right this minute, it does not mean that you will not be able to get it in the future. You can actually get on a waiting list at many of the Hosting companies. This is not as crazy as it sounds, there are websites folding all the time and you should be in position to get your first choice URL if it can happen for you.

When starting your own website, take some time and think carefully about your URL.  You might as well rephrase it a few times in case the name you chose as a first choice is already in use.
